Dalam industri pendidikan hari perkara yang dutamakan ialah pencapaian dan prestasi yang tinggi. Pencapaian dan prestasi yang tinggi diukur melalui berapa bilangan "A" yang dicapai oleh seseorang murid atau pelajar atau pelatih - bergantung dimana mereka ini belajar. Budaya prestasi tinggi ini dimulakan dari sejak kecil lagi. Di Malaysia, ia bermula dengan penilaian UPSR di sekolah Rendah. Seterusnya ia disambung dengan PMR dan SPM. Mereka yang prestasi rendah dan tidak dapat meneruskan pengajian ke istitusi pengajian tinggi dianggap tercicir. Inilah fokus pendidikan yang dijadikan sebagai industri kebendaan.
Pendidikan sepatutnya lebih umum dan merangkumi semua aspek. Keciciran bukan dilihat dari sudut pencapaian yang rendah dan tidak menguasai 3M sahaja tetapi keciciran juga patut memasukkan tidak menguasai akhlak mulia, akhlak Islam kedalam kamusnya. Keciciran akhlak inilah yang sangat penting. Walaupun tidak menguasai 3M, tetapi akhlak baik, mereka tidak akan merosakkan masyarakat. Mereka akan menjadi anasir yang baik dalam masyarakat.
Kita berbangga dengan prestasi murid atau pelajar atau mahasiswa yang cemerlang dan gemilang. Tetapi bukan semua yang cemerlang akhlaknya.
Persoalan keciciran akhlak ini tidak menjadi fokus dalam masyarakat kita. Tidak ada kelas pemulihan akhlak disekolah. Tidak ada kelas tambahan untuk kecemerlangan akhlak diprogramkan. Tidak ada kem akhlak yang disusun. Begitu terpinggir pendidikan dan penyuburan akhlak dalam diri insan murid dan pelajar ini. Hasilnya, kita lihat pelbagai isu dan kegawatan dalam masyarakat hari ini. Masalah sosial remaja sekarang adalah hasil dari keciciran akhlak. Kebetulan sahaja ia disebabkan keciciran dalam pelajaran atau akedemik.
Punca keciciran akhlak ini saya rumuskan sama dengan i kuasa dua, a kuasa dua iaitu keciciran iman, ilmu, amal dan akhlak.

Sesi Selepas Raya
After Hari Raya there will be another 7 weeks of academic session. It will be a very busy session. I need to pursuit the accreditation committee to complete all necessary documentation that need to be submitted MQA. While doing that I need to update documentation for ISO audit which will begin on the 6th of October.
Ontop of what have been mentioned i need to facilitate UH students small research project. They supposed to do their presentation of the study on the week after Raya. Some of the is getting married during Hari Raya break ... and the others, i think, are dreaming ... or unnessasarily busy with other unimportant thing. Hope these UH group read this posting! I don't feel they will prepare their best for this part. I have to wait and see what they will present ...
Other that UH course, I have to complete Basic Math course with religious major.
That's what is going to be with my schedule after Raya. May Allah make it easy on me!

Second session for 2009
Alhamdulillah, 21 Jun dah berlalu. It is the beginning of second session for ipgm throughout malaysia. Bahasa U nya semester kedua. This will be the last semester for our first batch and the last cohort of a primary education degree program twinning with University of hertfordshire UK. In January 2010 they will be posted to selected schools through out malaysia.
Saya terlibat dengan program in since the first semester. It is a good program. It is a new learning endeavor. I've learned a lot form this program. so do our colleague from math department. I had visited UH and London for few days enriched my experience on teachers' training program. I will share detail of this experience in another penulisan.
Kali ini hanya berkongsi the beggining sesi kedua. Tugas saya masih sama: mengajar subjek being a math researcher untuk uh group of students; penyelia praktikum (belum confirm), koordinator untuk pengiktirafan MQA bagi program sulong IPG serta tugas-tugas kecil yang lain.

Cuti Sekolah
Pada cuti pertengahan penggal 2009 saya kena habiskan kelas PDIG [Penyuburan Diri Insan Guru] dan Penilaian dalam Pengajian Islam. Kelas PDIG terdiri dari 20 orang dengan 5 orang ustaz manakala kelas PA hanya ada 3 orang ustaz. Kurang sungguh orang lelaki yang berminat dengan kerjaya guru. Majoriti guru sekarang ialah perempuan. Saya tidak ingin megulas pasal itu. mungkin jadi tajuk pada masa lain.
PDIG ada 3 modul dan pada kali ini ia adalah modul yang ketiga. Modul ini menarik sebab tajuknya menarik. Ia berkaitan dengan guru dan pembinaan negara. Ya! guru sangat penting dalam pembangunan negara. Guru yang dedikasi dan berwawasan akan menyemarakan pembangunan negara. Banyak perkara yang disebut dalam modul tersebut. Persoalannya bagaimana sesebuah negara itu terbentuk? Adakan apa yang disebutkan dalam modul tersebut itu yang mutlak? Apa yang ada dalam modul terlalu simplistik! Ia tidak boleh membangkitkan semangat memberi motivasi dalam usaha membina anak-anmak bangsa yang kecil ini menjadi anak-anaka yang membangun negara pada masa depan. Banyak persoalan yang dibincangkan ... seperti adakah wawasan negara bercanggah dengan wawasan akhirat? Mengapa ya dan mengapa tidak? aras kongnitf ini yang sepatutnya dibincangkan oleh para guru pelatih Jqaf ini.
Satu lagi topic yang saya sempat berbincang dengan guru pelatif Jqaf ialah penilaian dalam Pengajian Islam. Satu isu yang menarik, pada pemerhatian saya, ialah kefahaman guru pelatih terhadap penilaian. Penilaian adalah sebahagian dari proses pendidikan. Penilaian bermula sebelum pengajaran. Ia bermula dengan hasil pembelajaran yang ditentukan oleh guru. Penilaian dibilik darjah ialah penilaian terhadap hasil pembelajaran yang nak dicapai dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran. Satu tak pasti adalah perkara ini jelas kepada guru pelatih atau tidak. Blueprint atau Jadual Penentu Ujian sepatutnya disediakan bersama dengan perancangan awal sebelum mengajar lagi. Ia perlu disediakan lebih awal kerana ia akan memberi fokus yang lebih terhadap aras taksonomi yang perlu diberi penekanan semasa proses pembelajaran berlaku.
Satu aspek lagi yang menjadi persoalan saya ialah kefahaman terhadap hasil pembelajaran. Hasil Pembelajaran yang baik mesti memenuhi sekurang-kurang tiga ciri. Hal ini tidak dapat diceritakan oleh guru pelatih yang telah melalui praktikum dan sedang mengajar. Mengapa? Saya bercadang membuat satu tinjauan terhadap perkara ini.

Education's issue
There are many issues that you can talk and discuss about teachers' training in Malaysia and in particular at Kota Bharu Kampus. Yes I'm a teacher and people call me a lecturer since i teach at teacher's training college. I think this the beggining of my attempt to write about educational issues. I'm not sure whether my opinion and my thought will be accepted or will be view as troubling those with authority or who have interest in issue/issues that going to be discussed.
First, i would like to congratulate twelve students whom working hard raisng funds for their trips to UH. The have succesfully achieve that and while i'm writing about it, they already landed in London airport with airasia airline. Hope they will learn as much as they could while visiting UH campus, schools and go around London. Don't forget to perform your duty to Allah while you are there. Best wishes and May all of you are under Allah's protection.

For the final week of the session, i'm stuck with moderation of students assignment. Well it is a good experience eventhough it is the seventh time. It is alway a new learning. I learn that assessment is tough. It is not easy to assess others and been consistent with other assossor.

Happy teacher's day
Assalamualaikun and Selamat Sejahtera,
Every year, we celebrate teacher's day and every year i ask myself why this day is so important? Why we celebrate it? why we need this specific day? Are we just teacher for that particular day? As i know we are teachers ... every day, every minute, and every second. Even when we die we will be remembered as teacher. So it is more than that specific day.
When May 16th on the horizon, I wish it is not here, it's not coming but it is coming. I dont feel comfortable with pupils and students been ask to do all type of activities. Why not let them do it without our supervision. Why not we focus on our task of been a teacher. Let's have a forum, a discussion, a seminar on how we an improve our profession.
Let me post a question. Are we really educates our generation to be human of the future or we just educate our generation to be workers of the future? This is a basic question. Our system gears education towards producing skills worker devoid of producing human that uphold the pillars of the country that is "Rukun Negara". Also not to forget that our education does not really produce muslims that fear Allah. Muslims that fear Allah will be an asset that can contribute to contry development. They have higher productivity and most of all they will contribute to the well being of the community. The community will be safed from all kind of society illness.
So what need to be done? This is a question thst come with many suggestions. Everyone have their own opinions and suggestions: The Islamist and non Islamist. This will be a long discussion but we need to come to certain aggreement and common starting point. It is never late to start and we need to start now.

FIrst Semester 2009
First MPKB was changed to IPKB and this year it will have new name IPGM KB campus. SInce i'm a malay and believe in Malay language as a language learing, I will try to use Bahasa Melayu.
Semester pertama tahun 2009 sembilan saya mengajar dua subject utama iaitu introduction to research for UH programme and CALL for UiTM programme. Other subject will be ICT in teaching mathematics but my role is a supporting staff. For practicum i will supervise 6 students; 2 female and 4 male trainees.
My aim for this semester is to write, at least, one paper on teaching mathematics anfd one action research project. From there i will draft a paper for MACE i.e. Mathematics Center of Excellence. I will describe further later.
Other task is preparing for the accreditation of four degree programmes for MQA.
For GERKO i have to handle game for Badminton. That's the beginning of my new year session.
