Happy teacher's day

Assalamualaikun and Selamat Sejahtera,

Every year, we celebrate teacher's day and every year i ask myself why this day is so important? Why we celebrate it? why we need this specific day? Are we just teacher for that particular day? As i know we are teachers ... every day, every minute, and every second. Even when we die we will be remembered as teacher. So it is more than that specific day.

When May 16th on the horizon, I wish it is not here, it's not coming but it is coming. I dont feel comfortable with pupils and students been ask to do all type of activities. Why not let them do it without our supervision. Why not we focus on our task of been a teacher. Let's have a forum, a discussion, a seminar on how we an improve our profession.

Let me post a question. Are we really educates our generation to be human of the future or we just educate our generation to be workers of the future? This is a basic question. Our system gears education towards producing skills worker devoid of producing human that uphold the pillars of the country that is "Rukun Negara". Also not to forget that our education does not really produce muslims that fear Allah. Muslims that fear Allah will be an asset that can contribute to contry development. They have higher productivity and most of all they will contribute to the well being of the community. The community will be safed from all kind of society illness.

So what need to be done? This is a question thst come with many suggestions. Everyone have their own opinions and suggestions: The Islamist and non Islamist. This will be a long discussion but we need to come to certain aggreement and common starting point. It is never late to start and we need to start now.

FIrst Semester 2009

First MPKB was changed to IPKB and this year it will have new name IPGM KB campus. SInce i'm a malay and believe in Malay language as a language learing, I will try to use Bahasa Melayu.

Semester pertama tahun 2009 sembilan saya mengajar dua subject utama iaitu introduction to research for UH programme and CALL for UiTM programme. Other subject will be ICT in teaching mathematics but my role is a supporting staff. For practicum i will supervise 6 students; 2 female and 4 male trainees.

My aim for this semester is to write, at least, one paper on teaching mathematics anfd one action research project. From there i will draft a paper for MACE i.e. Mathematics Center of Excellence. I will describe further later.

Other task is preparing for the accreditation of four degree programmes for MQA.

For GERKO i have to handle game for Badminton. That's the beginning of my new year session.

End of Session 2008

There are few things that i have not accomplish for this term. First to be way ahead in preparation for class, actively guide students in developing their self concept and doing my own personal project for education.

Guiding students is my major concern. I wish to openly talk to students about universal values propound by Islam. Islam is not a relegion per se. It is a way of life. It brings blessing to all, muslim and non muslim. Something had hinder me from touching about the subject. It is not about others. It is within myself. I will amend this before the holiday begin dan start with a new energy for 2009.

These students are all bright. They have the potential to be a good teacher. They can be a good "murabbi" but they have to be guided to do that. They need to be trained for that.

Yes! my students i will do this! I will offer an extra discussion session for this with all the needed training for us to be better human being. I will see who will seek to be with me and who will avoid me!

Today is my first session of Introduction to research module. This module is an introduction module for IPKB-UH students. The module will talk about general research then will focus on action research for individual student's project. There is one new thing that i learn from this module. The module introduce an I-Map. Students will prepare an I-Map and used it to present their proposal. This is quite new to me and i'm looking forward to see the product of I-Map. I hope my students will enjoy this module.

This module is not present in a normal semester instead it is present as a package of 10 days. It needs to cover 40 hours of interaction time. The interaction time consists of lecture, seminar and workshop.

Today's Session at IPKB

I'm handling Badminton class for PPISMP group. The class meet every wednesday from 7.45 am to 9.45 am. It is an introduction to badminton where students are train to acquire basics skill in badminton.

The issues in handling this course is the availability of proper place i.e. hall with badminton court in it. IPKB have one major hall which is a multipurpose hall. There are 3 courts available in the hall.

IPKB should have a proper sport centre to cater the need of training future teachers in sport and games.

i have to 'postphone' today's session due to unexpected event that use the hall (i was not informed about it)

My Class in 2008

It is quite for sometime that i've not been here. This year i've handle a few subjects/modules. From January to June i had module SEN for UH program and CALL for UITM program. For July till November, I'm handling Creative Mathematics and Introduction to Research for UH program and CIE for TESL UiTM program.

Currently i'm finishing CM and CIE modules and will be starting Introduction to Research after Raya.
